I take it you never leave your campsite. You have to be there to take any action with your recommendation.
I am not anti-gun. I own plenty of them. However, I don't think a gun is the answer in this case. :@ - fj12ryderExplorer III

They probably just needed a patio table, not the wire. :)
Tru story...one time I got a callout to meet the local police at a local telephone office, located in a depressed section of town. When I got there the local cops pointed out what the thieves had stolen... A 5 foot wooden reel. As the thieves rolled the reel down the street the 300 feet of copper cable unwound off of the reel and was left in the middle of the road. We never did find that reel. - joegrayExplorer IIRemington 870

- I have a portable surge guard and I was concerned that someone might take it. I bought a steel ring about 2 inches in diameter and 2 feet of chain. I split the ring (hacksaw) and put it around the cord of the surge guard and slipped a link of the chain on the ring also. I then spot welded the ring. I wrap the chain around the pedestal and lock it. I also put a ring around my 50 amp cord and can slip the chain from the surge guard through it before locking all to the pedestal. This stops the casual thief but bolt cutters will still get it in seconds. I did all this when I first started camping but have never lost anything in 20 years so most times I don't even bother to lock things.

I don't think I've ever seen it reported here.
I've never heard anyone report a stolen power cord. - Tyler0215ExplorerSheese, something else to worry about! If a thief wants it, he's got it.
The only real theft deterent is to sell or give away all your stuff. - ramgunnerExplorer

Copper isn't worth nearly what it was a while back. I dont think theft is an issue anymore.
Unfortunately, meth tends to damage the thought process. Rocky Mountain Power is offering a reward for information on recent thefts of copper ground wire from several substations and other facilities (including transmission towers).
Think about this - why is it that many armored car companies have an escort/guard armed with a shotgun? The truth is that most armored cars carry less than a few thousand in cash. The perception, however, is that there must be millions in them. They prepare based on perception, not reality.
While copper may not be worth as much, meth heads think it is.
I haven't heard of theft of RV power cords being a thing around here, but propane tanks have been targets. - Never heard of one in a campground, but my neighbor has lost 4 propane tanks and two sets of batteries and his cord once.Stolen in his front yard. His is a TT and they cut the cord at the camper. He chained the battery compartment and the tanks, they just cut the chain and took it also. This was a couple of years ago when prices were higher on scrap copper. He hasn't lost anything since. I count myself lucky as my other neighbor does.We haven't had any problems yet.
- RoyBExplorer III would just carry a spare locked up somewhere. That would be what Insurance may cover perhaps... Getting a Police report probably would be hard to get haha...
