Just so this won't happen to anybody else. After a few hours of freeway driving I entered a Walmart parking lot. Making a hard right turn my trailer brakes locked up and blocked off that lane for a while. So here is what happened my trailer safety wire apparently giggled under a folding metal dog fence. The hard right turn locked it up. Rather embarrassed getting out and hooking it back up!

Glad the brakes worked as advertised.

Wire will stop flapping in the wind and avoid getting hung up.First choice----buy two carabinieri D rings that can be opened by pushing on the side. Put 1 carabinier on a hole near the rear of your hitch or the inside of truck side wall or bed. Put 1 clip on the e-wire loop. Clip them together with ready to hit the road.

Or just buy one of those e-brake wire's that are coiled up. Same thing happened to me, wire got hooked on something in the bed turning a sharp left turn and yanked it out.

I had a simple solution, my cable is coiled with the chain but with separate carabiner.

Also the coiled ones come in different lengths up to 6' long

I have the same thing, works well!

I bout put my self thru the windshield turning tight in a campground. glad I was moving slow.

They are available in different sizes so it's important to measure the distance between the switch and where it will be attached to the tow vehicle so the cable is not under excessive tension during normal driving and making turns.

Actually, I think this subject DOES apply to both. Both types of campers, 5er' and TT's and even HTT's, have break-away systems that use a pull cable. They are all identical, just located differently on each RV.

All good advice on this thread for everyone towing anything.

I doubt that you will even have yours pull out. Given the angle of the breakaway switch, you will break the tether cable long before anything will pull out.
