We ordered our CF model with a fiberglass front and corrugated sides for the same reasons (weight and cost). Trailer weight is around 5500, not sure on the tongue weight, but it is heavy. Still playing with the weight distribution hitch. My truck is leveled and squats too much, I might add some air bags.
We used the trailer this past weekend in the desert. Still trying to figure out how everything works. I have a punchlist of things I would like to add or change. One of the first items I plan to work on this week is to shorten the dinette table. With both the sofa and dinette folded out, there is only about a 1' gap, the dinette sticks out and reduces that space by about 4". Another issue is the furnace is very loud and impacts our sleep. It seems to kick on right when you just entering deep sleep and sounds like a hurricane. When hook-ups are available, we can use a small electric heater. Boondocking, we need the furnace. I need to find a better solution.
What I do not like about all trailers is the build quality. I worked in automotive product development early in my career and comparatively, trailers are primitive and built with off-the-shelf components. Certain details just seem low quality. This isn't a Dune Sport issue, it is an industry wide issue.
So far, I am happy with my Dune Sport trailer. They custom made it just the way I wanted. I would not have been happy with any other trailer.
Pics are still pending....
