My wife and I have been shopping for about a year now. The idea of double-pane windows intrigues me for the added R-factor and the added benefit of keeping out noise. But now Im faced with a $2,000 price tag to add this option. A few salesman have also mentioned that double-pane windows can collect moisture in between the panes. Im not sure if they are speaking from experience, or if they are trying to persuade me to the buy the units on their lots which have single pane windows.So, I have a few questions for those of who with dual pane windows:a) would you do it again? In other words is this a must-have option for you now, or just a nice-to-haveb) is there any truth to the moisture/condensation issue?c) would you mind sharing how much this option cost on your trailer? While shopping for a particular toy hauler, one dealer quoted $2,000 and another quoted $1,300 for the same trailer.Im actually more interested in what this option would cost for other trailers because now my wife and I are shopping for conventional fifth wheels instead of toy haulers. Im much more familiar with toy hauler pricing. So any real-world pricing for this option on other trailers would be very helpful. Thank you!

We have had dual pane windows on our last 3 trailers, 5er and two TTs. I would never be without them. The trailer is warmer and cooler and quieter, and no condensation ever on the windows on cool days from cooking or showering. I know the last trailer we ordered the dual panes came as standard equipment. And yes I would pay extra for them (and probably did in the standard equipment package). Go for it, you will never regret it. Also we have never had any condensation between the panes.

Yes we would do it again, No problem with condensation between the panes, they were a $1300 option on our Redwood ordered Feb of 2012.
One of the side benefits as mentioned previously, no condensation on the inside on those cool morning. Previous rigs with single pane would actually pool water on the inside of the rig under the windows because it couldn't drain out the weep slots fast enough..

Ours were $1200.00 back in 08 ... Would never have a trailer without them... This was our first with and there is a difference..hands down

Agree with all of you....I won't have an RV without dual pane windows...I've heard no R factor, whatever...I DO KNOW from what my wife and I have experienced...It's quieter in the 5er from outside noise...noise inside doesn't get out as easily with dual pane windows. Some can say what they want, but after having single pane windows and going with dual pane...my 5er seems to cool quicker when it's hot and warm up and stay warmer quicker when it's cold...Mine are almost 8 yrs old (06 purchased brand new in 07'), and no clouding up, no bad seals...no condensation....

stick around, pretty sure there will be those who don't or won't believe any of this, but it is what it is....Dual pane windows, cost a little more, add a "tad" more weight, but the Pro's outweigh the con's:)

I think that all double pane windows are not created equal. The new frame-less ones, at least on my rig are really just regular windows with a dark piece of glass covering. They are not what you may see at home (and not what we had in our old Newmar)Today as I was washing the grime from the road away, one window looked like there was water on the inside of the window. Turns out the outer glass was bowed out at the top which let the water in to the inner window and flowed out the bottom. No water got inside the RV however. Just saying.

I really like the dual pane windows. However, every one of my windows are fogged up and needing repair. The window seals started leaking after about 6 years.
