We have a second AC in the bedroom "above the bed," but
And sometimes in the evening we turn the main AC off and let the bedroom unit keep the trailer cool with a little help from a small battery fan on the floor.
Our bedroom unit does NOT connect with the ducts and does NOT connect with the thermostat. It is has its own controls and outlets.
We have never camped where we needed both units at night and rarely where we need both all day, except when cooling down after travel, but I wouldn't want to stay here in Texas where our heat index for the past week has been between 105 and 110 without having two ACs.
On our most recent trip to Colorado the temperature (NOT heat index) was 107 in Lamar, CO. and our ACs kept us comfortable.
We ordered out second AC from PPL in Houston, and had our local RV dealer install it. That was easy!
We turn the bedroom AC off at night, just run the main AC.
