Your truck has the 48RE automatic. That was replaced effective 1/1/07 with the release of the 6.7L Cummins and the 6-speed 68RFE (RFE = Rear wheel drive, Full Electronic control) automatic. The 47RH, 47RE and 48RE automatics were not known as bastions of reliability, although the 47RE in my 1996 Ram 3500 V-10 never gave me any problems - I did add an additional external transmission cooler to it, though.
