Just turned 4500 miles today on my 45th day on my 2016 3500 Laramie SRW with a Cummins. About 600 of those miles were towing 9500 lbs, including a few decent hills that it didn't notice. Came out of a Ford F350 with a Powerstroke before this Ram, and so far I can say I would buy another Ram after this one. It's a personal choice of course, but I think you would not regret a Ram.
Good luck with whatever you decide, and happy camping!
What sort of mileage were you getting pulling the 9500lbs? As an aside, how long is the breaking period on your new RAM?
There is no break-in period on the Cummins diesel engine. In fact, Cummins' recommendation is to hitch it up to a load and work it as quickly as possible. Ram recommends a 500 mile break-in period to seat (wear in) the ring and pinion gears in the rear axle before towing. Some follow it, and some don't.
Rusty
I've been getting about 13 mpg towing.
