I recently purchased my ninth Dodge/RAM truck, a 2016, 3500 HD. We use our trucks on our ranches for business and pleasure, since 1960 pulling one of our RV trailers with a Dodge/RAM. Over the years, I given some of our Grandchidren our trucks when we replace them with a new one, not because the truck was old, but because the younger ones deeded a good truck for little or no cash. Most of those trucks are still running too.
We have never worn out a RAM truck. Our oldest one that we still us is a 1999, RAM 3500 Diesel Dually with over 350,000 miles on it. One of my sons, who also owns a cattle ranch, still uses a 1972 Dodge 250 truck for a water truck on his ranch, that bought new in 1972.
Over the years some of my employees have owned Ford, GMC, Chevy, and RAMS. They are all happy with the ones they have and had so I believe that most are fine if taken care of. I also believe that it is necessary to have a truck model that is designed for the type of work expected for it. We have never tried to get any truck to do work when the truck was not powerful or strong enough for the job.
