Yes, this is correct. I just had this done with my 2014 RAM 3500 with Rambox. I just bought a 2015 Silverback and it doesn't even come close to the cab or have to worry about hitting the sides of the bed. Perfect fit for your needs. I will say though that with the Sidewinder you have to come in straight to hook up. Practice and no problems. I had a hard time finding someone with the knowledge about this and finally got Dick Gore RV to install it all for me. The Sidewinder is not cheap though, and not sure if goes above 16K. One other thing you want to make sure of is the arm that comes out of the hitch that locks and unlocks the pin doesn't hit against the bed wall. I have a Reese and have about an inch or little more room. So, be carefull of the knucle buster. Make sure that the 5th wheel you are buying will accept the Sidewinder.

Fifth wheel prep is only available with a non rambox bed. You will have to do a custom install with a rambox.

A friend of mine has a pull rite slider in his truck with no problems (at least not yet). He is going into his second year of camping with his 5th wheel.

That is the right answer. The ram box like my utility box is 50 inches wide. But while my utility box has a lower height, the ram box is the same height as other truck beds. Any fifth wheel with an extended pin box will hit the sides of the ram box while maneuvering. A straight drop pin box will be ok if the truck has an 8 ft. bed.

Then there is a second issue, depending on design of the hitch, the pin release lever may not have enough clearance with the narrower box. My simple Reese 15k works fine, but I did rotate and re-drill it.

If the truck has a 6.5 ft. bed, then the Reese Revolution (aka Sidewinder) solves the first problem. While it is an extended pin box, it moves the pivot point back under the trailer similar to a straight drop pin box.

Someone on ramzforum uses a reese sidewinder with hus 2500 rambox and it works.

My local Ram dealer suggested asking the Hitch installer. To many variables.
