I am currently running Walmart Nexian 235/75/15s 108S (2200lbs) rated tires on a 10,000lb loaded 5er with 8000lbs split between the 4 trailer tires. Not only are they holding up better than the Maxxis 8008 E tires, they also let me drive at 75 mph if I want to with no worries. ST tires are at best rated for 80 or so MPH and most only are rated for 65 mph. They blowout in the desert heat even when new.

I blew out two new (less than 1000 miles) Maxxis 8008 E range tires in the Mohave several years ago and have been a fan of LT tires ever
since.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the LT tires cost $80 or so and the Maxxis cost up around $120. If you try to buy a E rated ST tire in Needles, CA it cost $250 and is a no name brand to boot. Plus it will last just long enough to get you another 1000 miles before it shreds.

This was true before the current generation of tires. The new ones like Carlisle are speed rated for 85 mph or something like that. And are cheaper than LT tires.

What he said. (In the first quote) I switched my last TH to LT tires after 2 ST blowouts and never had an issue since. Even on a 28 hour high speed run to Sturgis. I'll never buy ST's again. The 2 blowouts I had were Carlisle. Chinese junk.
