Real world toy hauler weights

Some manufacturers put the dry weight on the sticker without any accessories and that really fools you. When my son was shopping for his Sandstorm they claimed that the weight on the sticker was actual weight for that particular trailer, they are weighed when complete. I tend to believe them as no two trailers were the same.

Depend on how much water you put in the fresh water tanks as well as how much "stuff" you load in it.

You can also purchase a portable scale made by sherline and take it with you to check the tongue weight of any bumper pull yourself. Tongue weight / payload is the weakness of nearly all half tons. If the tongue weight works the rest of the trailer likely will too. Granted as the trailer sits on the lot it is pretty dry, it would give you a starting point and let you know if it is in the realm of possible or to forget it.

Yes!!! Most dealerships have portable scales, or they can take them to a scale. Just tell them without an actual weight you'll have to pass, if they know a sale is on the line they will figure it out.

Some dealerships do, some don't.

Depends on how bad they want to make a sale.
If you tell them you have to have the weights before you will buy it, that will really show you how bad they want to work with you.

Our TT TH was grossly understated in real world tongue weight as compared to brochure tongue weights, when garage is loaded lightly and carrying any water the issue was magnified. Although some modern half-tons have impressive towing capacities many still have anemic payloads, unfortunately most TT THs have more tongue weight than comparable standard TTs of similar size.

When they say dry...thats dry. Add water,gear,cloths and propane. My last bumper pull hauler was the same. Mfg indicated 760 dry. I was 1250 ready to camp with a 8k gross trailer. Loaded with toys I was back to 800 tongue on a 11500 gross trailer. The trailer was uncontrolable due to very low loaded tounge weight with toys...behind a 1 ton dually.

I sold it for a 5th wheel.
