rear kitchen 5er

Has anyone had any experience with a rear kitchen 5er? I am looking at a Mountaineer with a rear kitchen, really liked it but don't know anything about traveling with a rear kitchen, any advice or help will be appreciated.
  • We really like ours for the counter space, open living space and cook not having their back to others in the trailer. The downside is having to make my way past those guests for AM coffee (I'm the early riser). We've had no issues with stuff moving or braking
  • We have a Winnebago 26fWRKS and love it. We have had experience with several rear kitchens and prefer them. Provides a more open living room area even on a smaller sized 5th such as ours. Never any problems.
  • My last three Trailers had the rear kitchen. No problems and did not have shocks. I prefer front kitchen because I like to look out front while doing dishes but they are hard to find

X2, just be sure your 5er has good shocks, and not an issue!
The only issues we had with ours was before we put shocks on the 5er. Hit a really bad spot on HY101 just south of Seaside, OR st posted 45. The same rough road sign that has been posted for years, as this area floods during times heavy rain. The pavement had buckled about like a speed bump, the TV with new Bilstiens took a decent bump, looking back at the 5er almost looked like it left the ground, the beer and soda in the door shelf's in the refer wiped them out.
Have not had an issue since we installed the shocks on the 5er. It also tows smoother.
DW would not trade for anything smaller!!

  • We have a rear kitchen and things in the cabinets and fridge don't move around anymore than they did in the trailer we had with a mid kitchen.
I'd buy another one again in a heartbeat.
  • I lived in one 2/3 of the year for 4 years. I have to say I really liked it. It made for a well laid out kitchen. I will say that hauling it from Texas to Louisiana I broke most of my glassware. But I'll chalk that up to my inexperience towing a large 5th wheel more than a flaw in the design.
  • We have had our rear kitchen 5er for 6 years now and no problems. :)

  • I believe most people who bad mouth a rear kitchen never had one, or had one without shocks as ours has never been a problem.
