- 57_PanheadExplorerThe Hitch House in Stockton CA is a great place for hitch work and other towing accessories. Had mine done there and they did a great job. Love my B&W Companion with no slide. Have had no issues with our short bed Ford F250 and Jayco 31.5RLTS. Hitch was installed at the rearmost and highest setting and all is good.
Steve - alboyExplorerWhy not look at the Demco 18k Hijacker autoslide,a great hitch and simpler in design than the superglide with no capture plate, it does have vertical adjustment.I have one, towed over 50k excellent hitch.

i am just evaluating for sure on the need for the slider. My nose / cap is so rounded and sloped, I would love to buy just the companion and save 70lbs on the back. 130 lbs vs 200lbs between the two units. Have you ever had to engage the slider?
Yes I have engaged the slider before, and was glad I had it. On a side note, I pull all types of trailers including a gooseneck. You might want a superglide, I have never considered one because of the other trailers I pull.
If no goose neck in the future the Superglide makes even more sense.
I am still trying to determine if the superglide has vertical adjustment. Also, I am looking at the superrail mounting kit. - cummins2014Explorer

B&W Companion Slider $1349
Superglide $1038
Both from Tweety's free shipping. IMO kind of a no brainer, if going a slider.
You won't even get the B&W crowd bashing the Pullrite hitches - cummins2014Explorer

Have a friend with the newer Montana which sounds the same as yours, he tows with a short bed Ford, and I seen him back up, and could not see where he would ever need to use his slider, and he has never used to date. BUT would sure hate to get in a bind somewhere and need it ,and not have it. Its a tough call. I could get by with my new Ram short bed ,but I do pull the slider back, to back in my RV pad beside my home, tight fit, seems to give me a little tighter turning radius.
One other thing I would scrap the B&W idea, and go straight to a Pullrite Superglide ISR series automatic sliding hitch. Thats if you decide to go slider, if I had to do it over I would have never went to a manual slider, would of went straight to the automatic. The ISR series fit the standard rails, if they are what you are going to. Price wise you are probably not spending anymore money. - Wood_chipExploreri am just evaluating for sure on the need for the slider. - glazierExplorer IIThat's where I bought mine, your prices are in line. I love my Companion Slider, it is very smooth.
- Wood_chipExplorerI just looked at Tweetys for the turnover ball + the companion slider. $1788.00 with free shipping. I would assume that the cost for the hitch in a shop would be a couple hundred more than that. 3 hours of shop time I would assume is approx $400.00. Total $2200-$2300 out the door with me buying the hitch.
