I agree that hanging from the pin won't hurt it. I don't do it for three reasons.
One, I can see my kids pulling the release leaver and dropping it on something or someone.
Two, my rv barely fits in the barn now, extra length would prevent the door from closing.
Three, how would you ever line it back up into the bed? I'd assume you pull under get it close and either lower it until it touches or drop it on the bed. Either would dent the bed if you miss, putting wood under it maybe?
Then pull forward and position it and back back under to hook up.
I get a buddy or take it apart and pull it in sections. I don't have a slider, that might change things, engine hoist sounds good to me.
