Removing convection oven/microwave combo for an rv range?

In our quest for a toy hauler we have found many that we like in our price range with the microwave convection oven combo in place of the standard range. Has anyone removed one of these and put in a standard RV range? What does it entail?

Thanks!
  • You can use the range without turning on the convection part, then it just works like a standard range.
  • For best results it should be done at the factory or by the dealer, that way any issues would be covered. We were of the same opinion when we got our toyhauler, but once we learned how to use our microwave convection combo oven we are amazed with the results. Enjoy your new rig!!!
  • We haven't used our range since we added a countertop convection oven 5 years ago. My choice would be to stay with the convection/micro unit.

I agree with Sandia Man to get the factory to do it if you do need the range.
  • I'll never have another RV Oven that burns most things. The Convection/ Micro combination has worked extremely well for pizza and chocolate chip cookies which are very high on my priorities. I like more drawer space that we now have since there is no oven. Still have the 3 burner cook top, just no oven. Randu

yep, I had an oven in my first 2 motorhomes. when I ordered the third, got it with the conv/micro and large storage drawer. stored stuff in the ovens and they rattled a lot.
try it you'll like it. but learn how to bake in one.

  • DW does not want to be relient upon shore power or the generator to cook. She often cooks for our entire group in foil pans which I think are a no no In the micro/convection
  • foil pans are ok in the microwave/convection, just convect, no microwave. DW bakes cakes and such in metal pans all the time.

Metal is fine when in convection oven mode. 2 different technologies in 1 box. Shore power or Generator would be the only downside if you do mostly boon docking. Randu
