removing pin box from DRV

I have a DRV 5th wheel that I am changing out the pin box to install a Flexair pin box. The top set of bolts in the current pin box are partially covered by the fiberglass shell. This looks like one massive piece that wraps the entire front of the RV.
Has anyone had this issue when removing the factory installed pin box?
  • The piece under the front is not the same piece that forms the front cap. There is a screwed in molding the connects the two together that can be separated allowing the underside piece to move enough to get the bolts out.
All of the holes in mine appear to be below the fiberglass.
  • I replaced mine with a MORryde pinbox and used the upper bolt holes. This allowed the pinbox to mount higher into the bracket which let the trailer ride lower by about an inch. I had to wrestle with it a bit to get the bolts in place because the shell didn't provide much clearance.
