I looked at the 16,600 GVW rating of that unit and thought that a diesel DWR would be mandatory as a tow vehicle. I hate a lame truck with no torque.
With the new gen diesels you won't have too worry about torque with a 16k gvwr trailer regardless of a SRW or DRW truck. If room in the garage or seeing only part of the local sights isn't a issue the DRW will serve you just fine.
1. The 8' bed will work fine but isn't necessary by a long shot other than personnel preference. Lots of crew cab short bed trucks out here doing the job.
2. Depends on where you like to rv or camp. My 28rk is 32' long and is way to big for many places we prefer camping. However some folks may not camping in places we like. We seldom set up in a rv park just to socialize which many folks enjoy.
3. If room in the garage or seeing only part of the local sights isn't a issue the DRW will serve you just fine. I've owned and operated several one ton DRW and SRW trucks. Non of my DRW trucks would not physically fit where my SRW trucks had to go off road or city driving. As you see they work fine for some folks.
My advise would be to drive several one ton SRW and DRW trucks with all types of cab selections in city traffic and tight parking situations.
Just pick the white one in any brand....good luck.
