Rhino Frame

As incredible as our Rhino has been I learned it is not entirely indestructible.

Found a few issues with my 2008 Rhino's frame this week. Just a suggestion that owners take a few minutes to really inspect their Rhino frame- It appears we damaged it initially during the Summer and it is now past repair.

With the above in mind- our Rhino has been nothing less than a workhorse and a joy to own...

Build your own frame and then take it to DMV and get a vin stamped and new title as homebuilt and street license it.

WAY easier said than done !!!

Yeah. I would be all over a 4 seat rhino that was street legal in California though.
  • Sounds to me as if there is a new ride for Christmas in the works. You going to stay with Yamaha, or go 4 seat? The Viking this year has got to be the basis for all the new Yami stuff. Got to think they'll have a 4 seat coming soon. And AB 1266 has nothing to do with the SXS Helmet Law.....

Should of kept it, the bill didn't affect the 08' models, an 08' four seater is still legal.

That's funny I didn't hear anything about some 4 seat UTV's being ok. Did this come out after the original bill.

The original bill, AB 1595, was altered by AB 1266 and possible a third one, I can't remember. But the just of the change was to allow those of us that had already done the four seat conversion to be grandfathered in. I think anything 2012 and newer cannot be legally converted in CA but 2011 and older you can. Kept the helmet requirement and the licensed driver but throw the rest out.

All the Rhinos I have been around benefited from a frame stiffing bolt on kit as well as multiple gussett and weld jobs. Don't give up on the Rhino frame you would be suprised how easily they are saved. While I agree they are not necessarily the nicest, fastest, or smoothest out there they are still a great bang for the buck.

  • Where exactly is this damage ocurring?? Our 700 sport edition has been pretty rock solid but its no RZR 900 thats for sure...

  • I'm sure it was Issac Newton, I blame him for the damage to the cage on my RZR as well. :)
  • We sold our 08 because we made it a 4 seat and now you cant ride it in California. Other than that it was the best toy I have had. Loved taking it on the jeep trails in the sierras. I just hope Yamaha comes out with a 4 seat UTV like the teryx4. What do you think caused the damage?
