Rhino or Line-X for 5er skirting

My trailer has white fiberglass walls with white aluminum skirting below floor level. The skirting was painted to match the fiberglass but the finish is thin and aluminum is starting to bleed through not looking so good. I've seen new travel trailers with bed liner type material sprayed on the front cap and rails. I like the look and think black on my skirting would add some character to the trailer.

Problem is I've seen trucks with spray on bed liners that are severely faded and I don't want that for my trailer. Does any one know of a brand that is resistant to fading? The trailer is covered for 7 months and uncovered for the sunny months. We really like the trailer and current plans are to keep it 10 more years.

Is this a bad idea for reasons that I have obviously not considered?
  • I have Bullet Liner on the wheel skirts, also as the bed liner. It seems to be a little superior to linex and definitely better than Rhino. The developer of Bullet is the same guy who developed Linex, however when he sold linex, he developed Bullet which is the next generation of product. I had "Bullet of Western Ohio" do mine... They have a facebook page...
  • Once Linex/Rhino goes on that's it. To change it the skirting has to come off.

Paint can be dong over and over....even better vinyl wrap
  • Thanks for the responses. I obviously haven't done much research and thought I would start here. I didn't know it came in custom colors. Maybe a more muted color such as gray where fading wouldn't be much of an issue.
  • WE put Line X on the lower front of our new fifth wheel. It is colored to match the rig and looks pretty good. We do have a small issue with a small place where the Line x is peeling away from the trailer. It's fixable, I'm sure.
  • I have black Linex in my truck bed and it faded pretty badly. But, it's a truck bed after all and it doesn't really bother me much. I will say that it is nearly indestructible.

The side moldings on my truck were originally painted to match the paint color of the truck. However, the paint on the moldings didn't hold up over the years and started to look pretty bad. I bought a couple of cans of Plasti-Dip from Home Depot and painted the moldings black. It has a non gloss finish (not unlike the look of Linex) and has held up nicely for about a year so far. And, it's available in a few colors if that works better for you than black. The nice thing is, if you don't like it, it will peel right off. It certainly doesn't have the protective qualities of Linex, but it's way cheaper and you can apply it yourself.
  • Linex and I would assume several others have a second or even third tier product that protects against fading. While all their products come with a lifetime warranty unsure if that includes fading on the higher end products. While my standard coating has a lifetime warranty it does not include fading but their premium and platinum coatings may which tout uv protection.
