- Charlie_D_ExplorerThey are both good. Buy by price and don't forget to check with local independent businesses. I have had liners installed by 3 different small businesses and none were Rhino or Line-X. Never a problem and looked good until I sold. I believe that preparation and installation are keys to a good liners.
- Iraqvet05ExplorerI can't speak for Rhino but I've had Line-X in my Silverado since I bought it new in 2007 and never had an issue. I don't abuse my bed like some guys but I've hauled loads of sand, rock, lumber and my kid's bikes in the bed and I have yet to see the stuff scratch or come off.
- nomoneyExplorerI don't know about the Rhino liner, but I've had a Linex liner in my truck since 2000 and not one problem with it. I would not hesitate to put it in a new truck.
- Hiking_HunterExplorerI've had both. The Rhino is a little softer, so it is better for slip resistance if you walk around in your truck bed alot. The Line-X is "harder and slicker" and has a shinier look to it.
I had the Rhino first. It's been in my truck for about 4 years now. I've had one problem with it - where a fifth wheel mounting plate bracket got loose (sharp corner), it "tore" for about 2 inches. That was pretty severe service, though. I spoke with the Rhino installer and he said bring it back and he would fix it (don't know if that means patch). The Line-X (different truck) hasn't really been in long enough to evaluate (or have problems with), but it seems to be very tough.
Like Charlie D said, "I believe that preparation and installation are keys to a good liners" - I agree with that - and that means the individual installer. The reason I went to Line-X this time was the specific installer really seemed to prepare the surface properly. He cleaned, then sanded, then cleaned, then allowed the surface to dry before completely before applying the goop. It took a little longer, but I think he did a good job. So, talk to the individual installers and make a judgement on how they prep the surface.
Both seem to work well under normal service, though. Check for specials and also the warranty. - samsontdogExplorerI have had both and they both are great. I have hauled eng, rocks, you name it and no damage to either one. {Different trucks }
- travelnutzExplorer IIHad Line-X in one of my business trucks to try it and it scuffed quite easy and had a quick tear on the driver's side wheelwell vertical surface about 7" long and roughly 4" above the bed from an empty wood pallet base sliding around when driven to Detroit on I-96. VERY disappointing! Yes, things really do slide around very easy on Line-X and sliding things cut or scrape/gouge thru the the Line-X and also often dent the box inside sidewalls too. You have to strap down even large items in the trucks bed so they won't slide around with Line-X.
Went to Rhino on two other trucks and stuff did NOT slide around anything like on the Line-X. Never had to strap cargo down to prevent sliding with the Rhino!With this hands-on experience, had Rhino on my two last personal trucks also that carried Lance TC's or Carriage Corp 5th wheels. None of the 4 Rhino trucks ever had and scuffs or tears carrying and driving a total of 460K combined miles and still driving the '04.5 truck and the Rhino sprayed in liner before we took delivery of the ordered truck still looks almost like new.
You can bet what will be on my next truck too because we learned! - rottidawgExplorerAm I the only one who puts a rubber bed mat on top of the Line-X so it stays nice and new?
Can't say how well it will hold up.....it is buried under the bed mat with a camper on top full time.
But I think I like it. - 1oldtruckExplorerI have had Rhino, Line-X, and Herculiner in my trucks. I had the most trouble with the Rhino liner. Probably due to prep work by the installer. The Herculiner had the most grit to avoid stuff sliding around in the bed. It also made it uncomfortable to sit on the tailgate. Line-X has proven the best so far. The dealer sells conditioner to treat the liner with. It has kept my liner in good shape and sticky so things don't slide around.
Compare prices and dealers. Some run specials that could save you $50-$100. - buc1980ExplorerLine x on mine and I am very satisfy.
- camperforlifeExplorer18 months on Linex with heavy use and it still looks like new. I once considered opening a liner shop and investigated every brand and their business models as well. Linex was superior across the board. I didn't end up opening the shop as we decided with the help of Linex marketing that there wasn't enough new trucks sold in my market for it to be a success.
