Hail Repair with Rhino Liner

If it is the front only then it is only 3 or 4 pieces of aluminum and you can replace it in a few hours yourself with very few tools.

Rhino Lining has expanded it's offerings to RV roofing. If you do a bit of Google searching you will readily find the information. If the roof itself is damaged (under the roofing) that will need to be repaired but if the roof just has dents and dings you should be able to have them shoot the material over that after the proper prep work is done.

I have Line-X on the bed of my truck. The local installer had a trailer, and a BUNCH of other equipment, all coated with their product. Amazingly tough stuff.

That said, I use the snot out of my truck. I noticed recently that I have quarter sized dents in one fender well. The coating shows no signs of peeling, and I think I can knock the dents out. But in no way does Line-X hide the dents of this size. If the dents are dime sized, they might be able to apply enough material to fill the low spots. Might cost more due to more material, and might add significant weight.

I suggest taking your trailer to the local shop and let them give you an assessment.

And not to start a debate over which product is better, I did a lot of research before going with what I bought. Some products fade badly after a few years.

I have no roof damage. Only hail damage to the front on the 5th wheel in the aluminum siding material. I still don't know if there is a Line X product that will stick and protect aluminum siding. I know siding can be repaired fairly cheaply but I don't want to get unsightly dents when I am on the road.

It's very difficult to fill dents or holes with a coating. I'd suggest to replace the siding and then cover it for protection, if needed. A lot of folks put an additional layer of Diamond Plate material on the lower front to protect from road debris.

I have diamond plate on the bottom of the nose to protect from road rash.

My question, what product is available to protect the aluminum siding from hail dings?

Does Rhino Liner have a product?

For anyone interested, I was contacted by Rhino Liner today and was told that either Eco Coat or Rhino Hybrid (over primer) would work over aluminum siding.

But the key is finding an experienced application person. He provided me the name of a fellow that travels Texas and might be available here in Okla.

One problem I see is the siding is thin a dents easy so all its going to do is dent under the rhino lining leaving nice dented rhino lining cover. Best bet would be to replace the siding and carry on. Figure out a way to extend the roof of the storage or a cover to but on the nose of trailer while in storage.

MD- I now plan to replace the siding and then have it covered with the RL.

I have a friend who is a wiz at removing small hail dents using a torch. He heats the metal around the ding (not the ding itself) with his torch and then steps away. As it cools the metal contracts and the ding is magically gone. The only bad part is you then need to polish the metal with a good rubbing compound to buff out the paint where the heat was.

This might be worth a try before you either cover the area up or plan to replace the siding. Just be careful not to heat it too much that you melt anything behind the metal. It usually just takes a few seconds of heat. I'm sure if you searched you could find a video on youtube.
