et2, my mom always said "hindsight is 20/20." I haven't posted here in probably years till recently. I'm used to other discussion boards that are (opening another can of worms here) dominated by women. Women are interested in hearing the details.

Just sayin' men can sure be opinionated about how and where other people spend their money.

We have had issues with our 39' fiver at state parks. Some will say they can accommodate you when they really can't. Twice we were almost stuck just trying to get out from the campground roads after we found the site would not accommodate our fiver. We avoid state parks partly for this reason. Private parks have not been a issue.

Nobody should care what you do with your money, but maybe not being so open with your reasoning for why you want a 40' toy hauler would have avoided the controversy. You kinda opened the door so to speak. Just an observation FWIW.

In regard to your wanting a golf cart. You might think about waiting till you get to Florida to get one.Golf carts are a dime a dozen in Florida and there are many dealers that sell them. They are Florida golf carts if you know what I mean .We purchased a used 2009 Club car at a reasonable price. Check for the battery condition as they are very expensive.

at 38.5ft I have only found the state parks a issue with my length, and most are tree lined and would scrape up the roof. so I stay away from them unless I have been their and driven thru

Exactly, pronstar. I was astonished how quickly my questions about getting a 40(ish) foot fifth wheel into campgrounds and general maneuverability got hijacked!

And yes, I was talking about getting an electric golf cart of my very own to use around Fort Wilderness. The Premium sites are 60 feet long and up. We always book a premium site, and I had no question in my mind about the ability to get into a premium site at the Fort. We've seen plenty of massive toy haulers there throughout the years.

Everyone's lives are different...reading some of these posts, you'd think we're all cut from the same cloth, and what's right for one is right for another.

I can tell you that where I live and work, a dally is indeed clumsy. I live at the beach, and it's not possible to park a dully on narrow streets in my neighborhood.

In my parking garage at work, it's not possible to park a dally in narrow spots.
And working in LA (unfortunately) means a dully is absolutely clumsy.

If I lived in a more open locale,cit would be different.
But I don't, and thats my reality. Yours may be different.

Ft Wilderness at WDW does have "premium" sites for larger 5th wheels and M.H. It is still a bit tight. FW is the least expensive resort at WDW. You can rent Golf carts at FW but you can not take them to the theme parks. Both wife and I are cast members at WDW so have free admission. We have friends with 38 and 40 foot 5th wheels that have stayed at FW. A larger 5 Th wheel will keep you out of many other parks as well. We just call ahead and tell them we are 40 foot long,4 slides and 54 feet total truck and 5th wheel. We have not had a problem.

We spend a lot of time in SC state parks with our 40ft 5er. They always have at least a couple spots I can fit in, I just have to plan far enough in advance to get those larger sites. Yes it's a little tight, but it won't keep you out of state parks. At least not in SC.


Off topic: I daily drive a "clumsy" and "cumbersome" dually. I have no problems with it, and my wife even prefers it for when we go running around to her Jetta. I wouldn't have it any other way!

I assume you have experience at Fort Woefull when you talking of taking a 40footer out there.

I live in Orlando, so do not partake of WDW's "camping" experience (Yeah for Employee Passes) but I have taken my 30E35 Titanium out there three different times for friends/family to use and some of the spaces are almost impossible. This is with ten years experience backing thirty foot plus fivers into almost any space you can imagine including between the houses into the back yard.

Just assuming, of course.

A rig that size will keep you out of many State and Federal Campgrounds. You must mean that you rent a Golf cart at Ft Wilderness at Disneyworld because Golf Carts are not allowed in the parks. We winter there, we work at the park, we have a Golf Cart. Scooters yes.
