And herein is the problem with these ERS services. I had been a Good Sam ERS customer for many years - until we had a tread separation failure on a tire on a previous 5th wheel on a Saturday morning at 10:30 AM on Interstate 45 near Buffalo, Texas.

While I was taking care of business on the roadside, my wife called Good Sam giving the representative our location at Mile Marker XXX northbound on Interstate 45. The rep asked what was the nearest town, and my wife answered "Buffalo". After a minute or so, the rep said "I can't find an Interstate 45 near Buffalo, NY." (For those that don't know, Interstate 45 isn't an interstate at all since it begins on Galveston island, Texas, goes through Houston and ends at Dallas, Texas.) Things went downhill from there. Good Sam couldn't find anyone to assist, so we were left on our own. Besides Buffalo, larger towns such as Madisonville and Corsicana were within reasonable distance.

So, we have CoachNet ERS now.

Six of one; half-dozen of the other, I suppose.

  • Good Sam is my choice and has been after Coachnet and others left me stranded. Good Sam will tow your Rig to the nearest RV park or facility and your truck to a facility also. I have used them for lockouts, tire blowouts and etc. One instance was on a Saturday evening and no tire shops open and had 2 blowouts. No spare and on the side of a busy interstate. They found a "lone ranger" that at least had a used tire, he came out, put it on in the dark and followed me to where I was safe and could get it fixed the next day, yea Sunday. Tow truck could not help as it was 2 blowouts on same side. Good Sam went over the top to get me out of a spot. Also there is no mileage limit on towing if the nearest facility is 200 miles, they will get you there. They also cover your other vehicles in you family. I have used them for those vehicles also.

You'll find two that get the most mention: Good Sams and the other is Coachnet. The service that you get at any one place is totally dependent on who the ERS contracted with in that area. Some local tow service. The ERS do not own any tow trucks. So if the local tow guy is good then you'll get good service, if he isn't you won't.

I have had both and use Coachnet right now, but check the prices and what services they offer and decide based on that. A note on AAA, in some places they offer RV towing and in others they don't and often their RV towing is limited by their terms. And be sure to determine if you are out of their area that you will or won't be fully covered. Some people also use their Insurance companies service, I can't comment on those.

    "Most mention" doesn't mean "best"!!..:R

Often it means - *least informed*.

The tow operator info is correct, but you should add.....they all contract to one of the National Motor Clubs. (So the tow service provider is actually a third party)

And then there is (IMO) a better choice -- - US Rider

Service for whatever you are driving or towing.

    *NO* hay burners required...:W

And, rather than belong to both GS & CN as the above poster does (one or the other is a back-up, I guess..:h..) the - - The AMA - American Motorcyclist Association- - offers a nice ERS included in your annual $49 AMA membership if you have it auto deducted from a CC. (towing limited to 35 miles)
They'll send you a nice monthly mag too - you can give it to a friend who rides or likes to attend races, etc, LOL!

Service for whatever you are driving or towing.

    *NO* MCs required...:W

The "homework" part (comparing the features) is up to you...;)
