Okay, so here we are, about 5000 miles into our 6000 mile trip. We're on the I90 westbound from Butte Montana heading to Spokane Washington for the night. Coming down a long steep grade a car pulls in front of me and puts on his 4 way flashers. I'm confused, so I slow down and we both slow to a stop. He walks back to our truck and tells me I have a flat on my fifth wheel. I thank him profusely. I can't stop on this spot so I slowing drive on for about 2 miles and pull off the I90 into Kellog Idaho. I see a Les Schwab right at the exit. I stop there and get out to look at my flat. It was a little more than a flat. There were only bits of rubber left and a destroyed wheel. I get the guy from Les Schwab to take the wheel off and put on my spare. Really friendly guy. He finishes up, puts the wheel in my truck and I start to walk to the office to pay and get a receipt to see if my Good Sam road service will reimburse me. He turns to me and says "No charge." I stare at him like he's got three eyes. I said, you're kidding right. He said no, he won't charge for just putting my spare on. Needless to say I was a happy camper. I gave him $20 and told him to get some beer! I guess I know where I'm going for tires!

Sounds like your next purchase should be a TPMS so you know when you have a flat.

They don't have Schwab stores where I live, but when traveling this summer, I was around them several times. The people were always helpful and willing to put air in your tires if needed.Bill

Les Schwab is the only place to buy tires and there are just about everywhere on the west coast. Their service is fantastic:):)

That's what I wondered. That and a new wheel. I won't want to be without a spare. Because the other tire on the same side took all the weight of the trailer when the flat tire was down to the wheel.

I had a similar experience with Discount Tires (aka America Tire Store) when I had a low tire pressure indication on my toad's built in TPMS while driving it around town. Pulled into a Discount Tire Store but since it was at closing time and they had locked up, one of the guys that was just leaving, stayed and pulled the tire off and put on my spare and told me to come back first thing in the morning to get the tire fixed. Returned the next day and it was determined that there was no leak in the tire so we assumed that the aftermarket TPMS (that I have for both the MH and toad) sensor was not on tight. Refiled the tire and put the sensor back and reinstalled back on the car. No leaks.

Went in to pay... guy at the counter said no charge, have a nice day.

ps... Gary, You really need to get a good TPMS. If you had one, you probably could have saved that tire.

That's right! They are up your butt from the time you pull into the parking lot. If you like that part that's great. I want quality work and HONEST people working on my rigs. That's right! They are up your butt from the time you pull into the parking lot. If you like that part that's great. I want quality work and HONEST people working on my rigs. I can tell you so many stories from people I know including my self it would make you sick. It AINT the same company that Les started.

Another good story"

Several years ago I was towing my race car back from Mt Washington on a Sunday evening when I had a blowout on the front right. I was 200 yards from an exit, so I pull off the interstate and lo and behold
there was a big Michelin tire store right there.

Remember this is Sunday evening, the store was closed but the owner was doing paperwork. Without hesitation, he opened his bay, installed a brand new tire and had me on my way. He would not accept any payment no matter how much I insisted.
