Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite caulking

I have just bought a 2014 Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite fifth wheel with the Diamond package. The frames around the baggage doors, frig access panels and windows do not have caulking like most trailers I have seen. Does Rockwood use some kind of seal that makes caulking unnecessary. I posted this question on the Rockwood forum and got no response. I am paranoid about leaks and delamination. Any opinions on this forum?
  • None of my cargo doors were sealed in any manner. Didn't catch up with that til the warranty was over.
Forest River products, excellent designs, good materials and a lousy work force.
  • When we had our 2007 Rockwood, we found that they didn't use caulk in lots of places that it was needed - like around the tub! We spent an entire day and two tubes of caulk and sealed lots and lots of places.
  • The non-leveling Dicor is intended for use on vertical surfaces. The self-leveling Dicor is used on horizontal surfaces such as around the cutouts and cap joints of the roof.

    Rusty
  • I think I will caulk top and sides for extra protection. In the past I have used ProFlex or Silkaflex. Didn't know Dicor had a vertical caulking. I like Proflex but it is extremely hard to get off when you want to recaulk. Any opinions regarding brand of caulking?
  • Some manufacturers caulk some do not. Caulk is an EXTRA protection and is not meant to be the primary weather seal. Be sure to use the VERTICLE Dicor NOT the Dicor you use on the roof. And NEVER use silicone
  • All openings will have either foam or butyl putty tape gasketing. There is no reason you cannot seal three sides with Dicor.
