Since there has been a lot discussion on Retrax, I understand you can stop the cover where ever you want? How does that work is it like a friction brake that works with latch? does it lock both sides or just the left side?
The latch engages in two ways. When fully closed, the latch has a dog that engages a socket in the rail. That's a fairly positive lock. Elsewhere along the rail, there is a pointed setscrew that simply presses into the bottom side of the rail. It is not as positive, but you can adjust the depth of the setscrew to increase the force if you want. I try to adjust mine tight enough that it won't move along the rail from vibration while driving, but loose enough that if my fiver hitch pushes on it for some reason, it will move without too much force. When hitched up, I usually close the cover about even with the nose of the pin box, or even an inch or two over the pin box. It is rare enough to ever get in a 90° turn that the pin box and cover rarely touch, but if they do, no harm will be done.
It latches only on the left side. Doesn't need anything on the right side.
