Roof caulking?

Found this when I crawled up on my roof to do a little inspection. It looks to be a complete failure of the caulk material in only one year. Could they have used the wrong product/material?

  • Top pick does not look like Dicor self leveling, and the non sag caulk is horrible. The bottom pick looks like putty tape that dried, and cracked.
  • Yeah, the whitish caulking looks a lot like regular commercially available household silicone, not roofing silicone. Was this a factory job?
  • To me, that looks terrible for one year. I know what the dealers and manufacturers say and I agree you shoud do inspections. That said, I could see that in 5 years not 1.

I can't see your images on the device I am on at the moment but a year is the typical lifespan for the roof sealants. My dealer stated to get up on the roof and inspect all the roof seams every 3 months and I have done that now for the past 15 years. Depending on the roof material you will use dicor for EPDM roof or the Alpha roof systems sealant for the TPO roofing material. I always keep 2 fresh tubes of dicor 1 at home and one in the trailer.
