Roofing problem

M y 1997 Alpenlite 29ft single slide 5th has a roofing problem. Like the rest of us it is getting old and it's time to be replaced. I'm 70 years old and don't want to make any big investments at this stage of the game, I've been quoted $6500 for a new roof, $4300 for a spray on roof, that I would have to travel to Florida for, about 500 miles, $1750 for a rhino roof, plus the cost of any replacement wood, 1 mile from the house. Has anyone had any good experience with rhino roofs. If so, would you recommend also doing a rhino roof on a slide out.
  • Not quite the same. I have a galvanized metal roof with a rolled interlock seam every three feet. Seven years ago covered all the seams with six inch wide commercial version of Eternabond. Being as this needs UV protection, I tried brushing on Elixir Acrylic coating.
Was redoing the white Rustolium on the metal this year and the acrylic is still perfect and covering 100%.
Might be worth looking into as the hardest part is the prep work. The rest can be done with a roller.
    Art.
  • I would ask the same. What exactly is the problem besides the age of it?Leaks? Alot would depend on any major structural damage. If your just trying to buy a couple more yrs and have no damage just do the cheapest fix.Personally I wouldnt even consider an entire new roof.It would cost more then what its worth.I had a buddy replace his entire roof, leaked after he was done.

Ive heard decent things about that roll on roofing.I believe its latex.Maybe check that out and get a young guy to roll it on for you.
  • I had my roof (1998) coated because all the white had worn off. Other than being black, the condition was OK.

What is the problem with your roof?

I am wondering if coating it will work (less $) or if a new rubber or spray on roof is needed.
