rubber seal under slide

Hey, Kids! I have an 07 Jayco Designer 36RLTS with three slides. The kitchen slide has a formed rubber seal attached with a metal strip underneath. Pieces of this seal have torn loose near the center of the strip and twice have come out inside the RV upon full extension, the carpet is discolored from the rubber and it seems to be twisting as the slide moves. I have cut both pieces off and should probably think about replacing the seal sometime soon. Anyone else have this happen, what did you do and where can I buy the replacement seal? Thanks, in advance, for the help. david
  • My trailer was the second off the line of this type and the roller that the slide slides on was crushing into the floor. This caused the slide to drag heavily on the seal. I had to do a reinforcement of the roller area. This may be the cause of your seal problem. Check it out.
  • I realize I don't have a "following" on here, but I just wanted to do something I wish more people would do. I am following up on an earlier post about a problem. I had to find a Jayco retail dealer,(2 in Indy) because Jayco factory has no retail facilities. Then after explaining what, where, and sending pictures of the part I needed, I got a replacement wipe slide seal sent by Marc at Stout's RV (Camping World). It took a bit, but not too much back and forth to get the job done. Now the replacement was not much like what was on there, but I got to thinking that perhaps Jayco had updated the design and this was the current part for this seal. It is substantially less bulk than the old. However, perhaps the stiffness of the old one was caused it to split in the first place. I replaced the metal strips over the rubber with 1/8" aluminum in the hope of having a firmer base for the seal. The only odd thing I found is that on this slide the wipe seal rolls over each time the slide is activated, whereas the other side slide does not. Anyway, I thought someone might like a follow-up to this issue. thanks for bearing with me. david
  • My lower flap seal was ripped and getting worse. I took a piece to my dealer so they could match the shape and length(Pontiac IL.). When it came in I replaced it myself. No effort at all.
