Running a Geni in the storage compartment?

Given that you're looking for a really short FW, you're highly unlikely to find a small FW that has a front compartment big enough to handle a genny. Your best bet is likely going to be a rear cargo rack with a gen box on it. There are several DIY gen box builds here. Most use rubber mounts to reduce vibration and heat-resistant foam for sound reduction. There was a really neat one a guy built in an aluminum tool box. Space for the gen as well as extra fuel.
