Running wrong tire psi

Well it took me 5 months but I just realized that the tires on our 5th wheel need to be at 65 psi & not 50 psi. Both tire & sticker on Rv say 65. I guess I was thinking about our previous TT that all required 50 psi. Oops. You know what they say about ASSUME.

You just never know about STs. If you did a lot of miles, in the 5 months, with them that low, I'd be a little worried.

I wouldn't leave on a cross country trip with them. At the very least, I would check them for bumps, or signs of separation, after each use for a while.

About 500 miles since we have had the trailer,
  • I just asked my son (he actually filled them to 63 lbs) and he said all were at 49-51lbs. Thing is we have never added any air since we picked up the 5th wheel (which is new) back in Dec.

We are leaving Friday for a 6 hour trip on Friday.

  • You may have done permanent damage to your tires by running them that low. I would seriously consider getting new ones.
  • That speaks well of the China bombs, if that is what you have. I would have to think they would have run a little warm, if you were closing in on FW GVWR.

Don't fret the assume, if you are getting older like many of us, it's just a senior oversight.
