Rust on bottom of 5th wheel

Por15 is great stuff. They even have a body filler for deep rust.

Never used the POR 15, but it sounds similar to Restore. I had a fifth wheel right on the bay (20' from water) for 3 years. I pressure cleaned and brushed on restore. It treats the rust, and leaves an acrylic coat over the metal. Can either be painted, or left as is.

Nothing works like POR 15.
I partially painted a rusty wheel rim at least ten years ago and just left it sitting out in the weather.
Still no rust coming through the area painted with POR 15.

Mine findings are dual purpose anything generally doesn't do either purpose as well as a single use product. Ospho has a water consistency that will seep in and penetrate the leaf springs, hangers, brackets and nuts and bolts and stop/change unseen rust not just cover up what you can see. I certainly dont like to go over things twice but I even hate it more if I have to redo the complete job.

Talking to several painters and paint retailers I got the best reviews for OSPHO Best it is only about $22-23 a gallon at ACE hardware. I bought a gal and have most of it left, it goes a long ways with a brush. If anyone is in the neighborhood they are welcome to get some of mine.

Easiest way to stop the rust is to lightly wire brush, or sand with a rough paper to knock the loose scaly stuff off. Then one coat of POR-15 Here This stuff really works and is the one so many auto restorers use because it is so easy.

Just refinished ours. Used a wire brush and a scraper to remove what I could. I then brushed on Ospho on the underside and let dry over night. I then went to work with Rustolem in semi gloss black. Looks better than new. Time consuming and messy but worth the trouble.
