If you are referring to me ,not in this lifetime. Although the B&W is a great hitch , I never drank the koolaid . :B

Its a bit confusing on who is replying to who here the last couple pages. I assume 12V was referring to me on the same page reply, who knows :)

Well, JMHO..

I feel for this couple.

Was he high hitched? I don’t think so. The bar is clearly across the pin and you can’t see the bottom flange of the kingpin at all just as you would expect with a properly hitch slide bar jaw. The bar is in the place you would expect . The bar is not 1 inch thick which explains why it wouldn’t cover the entire gap between the bottom of the pin flange and the top of the pin. Maybe I’m losing my brain here. But if it was high hitched you should be able to see the bottom flange of the pin ABOVE the bar.

why a slider? Why a junky used hitch? Why not find the owners manual online and read it first? Hopefully the lesson is learned here.

I suspect it has something to do with the old latching mechanisms.

I guess we will just wait for the next video.

The tape idea is fine but the FACT is if a B&W is high hitched you will have a minimum of 1.5" of gap between the hitch head and the pin box bottom plate. Reason so much gap is the THICK 1" jaws.

I just can't imagine how anyone can high hitch, like you say there has to be enough gap that it would be hard to miss.

Same with my Reese, pretty close to a 1" thick jaw. A person would have to be totally unconscious to not see a high hitch.

Anyway back to what happened , it was obvious the handle was not completely closed , what is not obvious to me is how the handle released . Was that sliding bar just over far enough that the kingpin being round just slid past pushing the bar out of the way, that seems the only logical way . That handle is spring loaded going in ,not out.

Yes I agree with all this logic. It was very easy to see the high hitch. But the electrical tape just gives me a very good easy way to see the status. Peace
