RV Crushes Truck

This guy dropped his 5th Wheel on the back of his truck on video.

Not me BTW.

What I can't figure out is how it happened. Go to about the 18 minute mark to see him checking everything, but it still falls.

What did he do wrong?

My guess is that it was HIGH hitched... The hitch head had nylon , and he added a new piece to the pin box... when he showed a close up after, there looked to be a small gap on the front left side of the pin box and hitch head.. Look at the 19.34 mark... you will see the gap..

    x2
  • We sometimes watch these fools on YouTube. Yeah, definitely click bait since you have to wait for their next video to get the rest of the story. They did a video around last January about an RV Park west of Phoenix that sometimes has a fly problem. They went way overboard about it. We stayed there about a month later and it was fine. My neighbor was Snowbirding there and had no problem.

What he did wrong was worrying too much about making Youtube videos when he should of been paying attention to what he was doing. Sorry, no sympathy whatsoever here.

  • Why didn't they explain what happened to the hitch?

I have said it for years! That type of hitch is EVIL. Nearly every truck with bed damage has this type of hitch.

It probably happened because he slipped the break away cable over the hitch handle. ;)

  • Are they the same couple who did the video when they smacked up the front of the other fifth wheel when they hit a tree or something?
  • They did not do a test pull tho it seems like they pulled the rv a short distance before it dropped.
  • I feel bad for them as they had just signed the papers for that rig....still waiting to see the next video and the damage done...hopefully it was minor...

As they are full-timers I think it was just complacency added on top of the excitement they had for just getting the new rig and this is a new to them hitch also...
