rv furniture?

Good morning fellas/ladies. My wife and I were kicking around the idea this spring about doing a very slight furniture remodel in our 2013 Laredo 266RL. We love the camper for the two of us... but also looking forward to upgrading to a much bigger bunk house when we start to have kids soon.

Anyways while we like the look of the leather furniture from factory, the rocking chair and sofa/bed combo are not horribly comfortable. We frequent all the regular RV shows and have come to really like the feel of the theatre seating chairs w/ center arm rest. We would really like to replace our existing couch with this, however we have one issue, we still really like the flexability of having a pull out bed setup for when friends happen to come along. I guess my question is have any of you encountered a pull out bed type setup in any of these theater seating style sofa/seats? Our main goal would be to remove one of the rocking chairs for extra room, and replace the couch with something far more comfortable yet practical.
  • We replaced our fold out couch with two of the smaller lazy boy recliners. If we have guest we use one of the better taller queen size air mattresse. I realize this would not work in all situations.
  • Just remember one thing, ALL things RV related are compromise! When you make one change, it will usually effect something else. Make decisions on what YOU want and not what if something else happens. FT for 20 years.

  • I personally wouldn't put money into a trailer I was contemplating trading with the idea of having kids, which are expensive as...well, they cost a lot.
  • We have done some work on our 5th wheel over the years to make it more comfortable. Luckily our sofa sleeper is comfortable both as a sofa and bed.

We did replace the recliners with two from Lazy Boy...much more comfortable.

We replaced the bedroom mattress with a sleep number mattress.

Ours didn't come with an electric fireplace, so I installed one both for the ambiance and for the heater feature. Since we installed the fireplace we haven't used the forced air heater the fireplace heat keeps us comfortable.

Keep in mind because the doors are narrow, some furniture is installed before windows go in at the factory, so be sure any furniture to removed or installed will fit through the entrance door.

Make it comfortable and you'll enjoy it more.

The fire place is one upgrade that we are infact making this year! and are excited to try. It was a colder year at the lake last fall so we used more propane than usual. We are thinking this fire place will likely cut down on the need to use the furnace almost completely! which would be excellent.

Good choice, we LOVE our fireplace. The last two units we've owned have had them and they really do cut down on propane consumption. We can keep our trailer comfortable with the fireplace running down to 30° (outside) easily. You're going to love it and they are nice to look at too.

X2 on making sure it will fit coming through the trailer door. All of the RV Furniture is not as big as regular furniture it seems.

  • We just finished replacing our jackknife sofa for dual recliners/ theater seating with pull down center console. We also replaced the dinette cushions with matching new cushions. We had all of this made by Shop4Seats. The recliners came in 3 units that easily fit through our motorhome door. Good quality but not inexpensive.
  • I replaced the two 2 OEM recliners with LaZboy recliners. They come with the backs unattached and easily fit thru the door. Simple to attach the backs after you set the base in place.
