We live in Tuscaloosa and we are weekend warriors so we have camped all the campgrounds around.
In the immediate Tuscaloosa area, there are really only two choices (unless you want to park in a gravel parking lot)

If you are willing to dry-camp and want to be in the center of town, there is a free lot that is used for RV parking during football season. If you want more information I can pass it along.
I also have pictures of both campgrounds listed below if interested.

    Deerlick Creek
(hands down the best sites in the area, no competition)

    PROS:
The sites are all large paved sites,
All sites are spaced out from each other
Waterfront sites all have personal decks with seating areas
    50amp sites
    All sites are reservable
    Very quiet and serene

    CONS:
    Water/Electric (no sewer)
You will want to stay more than a day
    Gates close at 10pm

    ----

    Lake Lurleen

    PROS:
Some Water/Electric/Sewer sites (no site reservations)
Some sites are nice and have waterfront (not quite like deerlick though)
Gate has code to go in and out at night

    CONS:
    Smaller sites
    Not all sites are paved
    Sites are much more crowded

Jennings Ferry is also very nice (COE like Deerlick) but it is a good ways away from Tuscaloosa.
  • Try Jennings Ferry COE off the interstate at Eutaw, AL. Easy in and out, paved pads power and water, dump station, 30 min from Tuscaloosa. $22 per night.
  • We stayed at Sunset RV park in Cottondale. Handy to Tuscaloosa and easy on & off the highway. It was good for a one or two night stop.
  • Deerlick Creek C O E Beautiful ! Maybe 10 miles
    from Tuscaloosa

Lake Lurleen State Pretty Maybe 15 miles from Tuscaloosa

    Sunset (?) In town........suitable...concrete...not beautiful
    or Pretty

First two may be listed in Northport, across the Black
    Warrior River from Tuscaloosa
