I walked out on a salesman a couple months ago when he insisted on telling me that Jayco Eagle HT's were half-ton towable. I offered to look up truck specs and he declined. This is absolute b.s. by the manufacturers and I'm just waiting for someone with more money than sense to sue one for false advertising. The =only= truly 1/2 ton FWs, IMO, are Scamp, and the like, with some older 19/20'-ers.

We need to be careful making blanket statements.
The reality is that if even ONE version of ONE manufacturer's 1/2 ton truck is rated to tow the trailer, it can be advertised as "1/2 ton towable." I have never seen a trailer advertised as "towable by ANY 1/2 ton truck." Completely different statement, and no mfg. would ever try to make such a claim..
Not defending the mfg or dealer, but that's how it is.
The truck manufacturers are just as guilty. They advertise a 1/2 ton PU with a max towing capacity in the same breath that they advertise another PU that gets max fuel economy. Leads a buyer to believe that they can have it all. In reality, it is either/or, or something in the middle. In reality, most buyers wouldn't want either one of the either/or.
