%#$&# salesman

While camping up at Lake Wallowa state park in Oregon, a young couple towing a new 24' Gulfstream with a Toyota Tacoma, pulled in next to us.
We were visiting later and he told me that his tacoma was overheating on the drive up to the lake. (1st time for that). I asked him if he had the tow package and he said that the salesman told him that he did because "it has a trailer hitch and wiring". I looked @ the bumper and it was rated for 3500 lbs max. I also have a Tacoma with the tow package (we were in our motorhome) and I asked to look under the hood. note: if equipped with a tow package, the water pump shaft will be green...his was orange indicating it was not the high flow pump and also didn't come with a tranny cooler.
The Gulfstream had a dry weight over 4200 lbs.
Because of the salesmans assurances that they would have no problem towing, they purchased the unit....this was their 1st trip.
I told them to call the sales manager and raise hell and demand their money back. It was a local dealer in Salem, Or.
What these jackasses will do to make a sale is unbelieveable.
Granted, they should have done their homework before the purchase. They were a young couple with very little knowledge of towing.
I gave them my e-mail address so they could keep me updated.
