I will second that knowledge is power! We decided to get a TT and had recently purchased a truck. We went looking at trailers and ended up with a trailer too heavy on the hitch. We ended up trading it back in and took a hit on the trade. The dealer did share in some of the loss as we were buying another new trailer but its my fault for not taking the tongue weight into consideration instead of just looking at what I could pull. I will say that the dealers should take more responsibility as well, the sales guy looked right at my brand new 1500 and never bothered to look at the door sticker. Three weeks later after having my weight distribution system set up twice, for two different trailers I realized there was a 2" ball on my hitch instead of a 2-5/16" and none of their techs noticed :-0. I'm in the life safety business and if I put a device somewhere it's not intended to work just because the designer doesn't like it in the center of the ceiling, am I not responsible for letting them know it won't work? I don't see any difference here. For too long the dealers have been allowed to slide on the fact that the consumer should educate themselves but they should be responsible as well. They are after all the professionals!!
