RV spaces to Purchase for Retirement??

We retired 15 years ago with the idea to find a place we would like to settle down in. Well, 5 RV's later we still are looking, we found we liked exploring more than picking just one spot. Each their own, but I would suggest you explore a bit and see what you like.

I'll vouch for Yuma being a good place for the winter. I spend my winters either in the Foothills area on a semi-private lot or a private RV park nearby. I've seen plenty of lots for sale in the Foothills area. The owners are mostly older folks who can't travel anymore or, perhaps one partner has passed on.

The weather is near perfect most of the time but there can be winds and blowing sand occasionally. Often there is so much sun that I wish there would be a few clouds occasionally. Rain is also very rare, almost non-existent. It's possible to spend about 6 months here before the weather gets too hot.

The winter season tends to be crowded with snowbirds from all over the country & Canada. So there'll be lots of traffic and lines at the supermarkets. The nice weather makes up for the minor inconveniences though, IMHO. :C

I would not buy until I had looked around to find out which area I liked best. Don't rush it. Give it a couple of seasons at least.

Others have posted ideas on pros and cons of neighbors, picking a good park, etc. I will put this out there for purchase Vs. lease. If you purchase then you have the tax obligation, electric, water and phone - Normally. Check the parks policy. Second, leasing you Usually get all except electric, again check. But if you want to side step the tax obligation, leasing makes more sense. Also you can leave at any time on a lease (with reasonable notification). I looked in Florida at about 50 parks for a site. I asked about purchase versus lease. I finally settled on a beautiful park (one of the few Good Sam 10-10-10 parks) and a leased lot. Couldn't be happier.

I'm also surprised that there doesn't seem to be a big market for "Slab" purchasing. Certainly not disappointed, just thought they would jump on the RV people throughout the country. I bet Arizona is loaded with Class A slabs!!!!

The Voyager Resort in Tucson has rv lots for sale. We rent an rv site in the winter so don't know much about the sales but we love the resort. It's huge and many, many activities. Of course really hot in the summer.

Chris have you stayed there?? We have owned two different lots since 2007...sold the first one for a tidy profit after 3 years and upgraded to a phase II lot....can't wait to get back there for the holidays!
