If you book right now at reserveamerica.com you may find some spaces at Morro Bay State Park, which is on the coast (101) highway and is about 260-miles north of Fontana and well north of L.A. It is located just northwest of San Luis Obispo. They have some sites with full-hookups but most are dry camping, regardless, they do have a dump station. 260-miles is about a 5-hour drive. Most of the coastal State Parks in California are booked solid for March 2014, it's best to make reservations 6-months in advance, but you may be able to find some spaces available at Morro Bay State Park.
