Thanks again everyone for your responses on this. We have modified our exit plan a little so I have one further question.
We will still be leaving the track after the race but instead of heading straight over to the coast like I mentioned earlier we are going to run up I-5(or 99) until just North of San Fransisco. It looked as though the highways aren't close enough to the water to enjoy the view lower than San Fran anyways so that is one reason we altered the plan. My question is what is the best route to head in that direction on a Sunday evening? There are a few highway or freeway selections but not being from the area, I don't know which one would be best to get us heading towards I-5 North. Any input on this would be great.
