We drove from So. California to Colorado and saved over 10,000. That's including diesel in the truck and lodging. We bought a Grand Design and they include Rv service centers as some of their approved repair facilities. This is great because you now have someone who specialize in service, not sales. They take pride in their work and want you to come back because that's where they make their bread and butter. Most will say they have mediocre experiences or worse, when dealing with dealer service center.
Price from RV Wholesalers was way better than local.
Long way to go - but figured it's just another camping trip.
But - with a bit of effort, found a dealer in MT matched the price on every item, including options.
At that time Jayco posted MSRPs on their site, so the apples to apples "wholesale" prices for everything were easy to compare.
"Shopped" the best prices again locally - including delivery charges.
(MT closer to mfgr = less)
Lots of smoke and mirrors - but no cigar for the locals.
One local even claimed there was *no* such model as the one on the Jayco web site!
When I politely suggested "we" look it up - he said he wasn't allowed to do that - they had a computer "expert" for that.
Well - let's go get him!
Oh! - today is his day off.
Thank you - and.... Adios!..:R
Drove from So. CA to Great Falls Montana.
"Camped" on the dealer's lot for two nights to check out everything.
(Dealer had a mobile RV service for the PDI).
Excellent vacation excursion! -
Of course, the "after purchase" part was better than "motel-ing" on the way there - with two dogs!
Trlr came with a 2 year factory warranty.
Never needed it for anything.
About a year later, we were in a campground in Vegas, across from a Jayco dealer.
Thought I would put the "local thing" to the test!
Wandered over one morning while the DW did her morning thing...asked about how they handled warranty work for units *not* purchased from them.
Chatted with a salesman and the service dept.
After some song-and-dance, they said no big deal.
For the "local is better" folks....what good is the "local"
when you're 3K miles from home in need of repairs?..:S
Oh yeah - the $2,000. (more) purchase cost "worth it" for repair of "small stuff" by a local dealer..:@
I *did* replace a door slide on the pocket door. Took about five minutes and $2.50 for the item.
Wow! - Nice to know *my* labor was worth about
four thousand dollars a minute.....not including "parts"..:C
Would I do it again? -
Absolutely!Would I buy from the same dealer again?
If that dealer was the best price - sure!
If a local dealer came "really close" to the best price - maybe.
Why only "maybe"?
Prices aside, *NOT* impressed with the So.CA dealer's & salesperson's attitudes, BS & lack of knowledge.:( -
(Especially some of the shysters at the RV shows!)
Should add - no matter what dealer (or where) my purchase was, *no* financing required or desired.
(If you need/want to finance the purchase - line up your own!)
That's my story - and I'm sticking to it.
Your buying "experience" may vary..;)
Your money, your decision/s..:)
