Sabre Cobalt 30RLT 5th Wheels

Hello,

I am interested in a new 2018 Forest River Sabre Cobalt 30RLT - 5th Wheeler. I have a 2017 Dodge RAM 1500 HEMI V8 4X4, has any towed a 5th wheeler with this truck or does anyone know if this truck can tow the Sabre? the Sabre dry weight is 10,104lbs

Thank you
Ana

I doubt many would use that truck to tow the size/weight FW you are talking about. With a dry wt of 10K+, the loaded weight could easily be 12K. This could put 2,400+ lbs right over your rear axle, and is not including the hitch wt, or cargo/passengers in the truck. Your truck's entire payload will be around 1,500 lbs.

I agree with Jerry. Running the dry weight numbers through TowingPlanner.com, you're looking at a wet loaded pin weight in the ballpark of just shy of 2,600 lbs.

Aw c'mon man, the RV salesman said my truck could tow it!

LOL, I'm not sure a salesman would even stoop that low.

  • To better explain your truck's capability, you need to look at all the ratings, GVWR, GCVWR, RAWR, and payload sticker. All but the GCVWR will be inside the driver's door opening.

  • Sorry but that's just not enough truck by quite a wide margin.
