Saliun S637
Okay... I rolled the dice! Put a set of Saliun S637 today. How are they holding up for those who have put them on?

"Thanks, so in reality you paid about 2/3 of the GY G tires. I will stick with the GY's. Never even a flat but I do know they back up their product and will pay for damages and tire replacement. So that means no insurance premium increase."
So you are paying for something you never use.
I paid 207 ea for my Sailuns that included mounting, balance and metal valve stems
That is correct, just like I have a 1 million dollar umbrella and 500K coverage with Farmers that I don't plan on using.
I do my best to not buy Chinese.
On the topic of insurance. My RV insurance policy will cover damages to my coach caused by a tire failure. Under comprehensive as I recall.
So its guaranteed that GY will step up to the plate and pay to repair RV damages caused by a tire failure? Could you perhaps post a link showing where GY says they'll cover consequential damages caused by one of their tires failing on an RV? I couldn't find that on their warranty statement but I'm probably missing it. thanks
I can speak to this from my own personal experience. My 06 HR Presidential Suite 5er came with GY G614's. I purchased the 5er brand new off the lot in Oct. of 07'.....I posted this a little over three years ago when I blew a right rear tire on I 40 about 10-15 miles from my home...Can't remember the day, but recommended air pressure on my GY's from GY and the 5er manufacturer was/is 110 psi, which is what they were filled to, 5er has a GVW of 16,950#...I believe the 5er, at that time weighed in around 15,500# or there abouts, couldn't find my weight stub.
Anyway, called Good Sams ERS, they sent someone out and changed tire out for me. The tire, never lost 1 psi, just lost it's carcass (tread)..Did minimal damage to the 5er, but did some. Tires at that time were a little over 4 years old (all made in Kansas)....That was a Sunday...next day, I hooked my 5er back up and took it to a Good Year Wingfoot. I told the manager what happened...He took my tire and shipped it to GY and even started a report to GY without even asking me if I wanted to do it or not...even asked if I wanted to file on damages to my 5er....(I didn't do this because I was fortunate enough to just have some scratches on my 5er from where tread came off)....He took all my information, and to make a long story short, they offered to pay for the damages on my 5er and they replaced ALL FOUR TIRES and didn't charge me anything for it. Not the one tire that threw it's tread, but replaced all four tires...Manager told me that there had been "issues" with some of the GY 614 tires (more in years of 04-07......They replaced the tires in 2010 with tires that had been manufactured in 10, in Kansas of course.
An addendum to the above post....While replacing the tires, the Wingfoot Tech noticed the right rear spring was sagging and weak....when they put new tires on, I only had about an 1" of space...drove very carefully and had spring replaced and ended up with 3"...So, don't know if the tires tread ripping off caused the issue with the spring, or with the weak sagging spring rubbed against the tire and caused it's tread to peel off....GY didn't question it...they told me about it, put 4 brand new tires on my 5er and offered to repair the damage to my 5er..
SOOOOOOO, from my personal experience and what I've read over the years on these forums about GY stepping up and taking care of tires that may fail on a TT or 5er, yes, it seems to be their "thing", to "make it right"....
NOW, about the Sailun tires, I see no one has looked at all the Quality Controls this ONE particular tire China Tire Manufacturing plant has in place, and the certifications they have attained...These are not "just given" to you...you have to EARN them and have a bit of a reputation as far as manufacturing a quality product before you can attain these certifications. My company goes through the exact same thing each year....if we failed in ANY, it could be disastrous to a point and it's a BIG DEAL to attain these certifications if you want to compete in the business world of manufacturing. So , I WOULD look at these tires just because they have attained a measure of Quality and Managerial Controls that most China tire manufacturing plants have either never heard of, or don't care about.
Do they back their tires if one blows and causes damage? Don't know.....and a very good point, because it does seem that GY DOES, that I know from my own personal experience and from all I've read on these forums.
Remember, my tires were a little over 4 years old and I got 4 brand new tires from GY due to ONE losing it's tread and it may or may not have been due to the tire...
I can't afford the 4 brand new 17.5" wheels and higher load rated 17" tires, so I'll stick with my GY G 614's, BUT....when time to replace these I WILL do the research before I kick the Saliun to the side of the road because it is "made in china"....BUT it would be the ONLY one I'd look at due to it's earned accreditation in the Quality dept of manufacturing. I KNOW first hand, how hard it is to earn and maintain those ratings....
