Sanibel 3800 comparison

Looking for a bit of information and help in regards to the comparison of the 3800 Sanabel to other 5th wheels of it’s caliber and floor plan. By that I am meaning with its aggressive winter package. Looking for possibility of other options to compare it with on the market as to what can match it or out perform without breaking the bank?
  • The Prime Time (Sanibel) web page doesn't define what the extreme thermal package consists of....

From what was available, the CC appears to have higher R values and BO Plenty's 36CKTS may have thermal window panes.

I didn't compare the DRV specs, maybe BO Plenty did.

Lastly, not everybody can afford a DRV...or want to...for all they cost, they have their share of problems too.

What aggressive winter package are you talking about? You need to look at trailers with thermal pane windows, walls that are thicker than 1 1/2 or 2 inches, ceilings and floors with real insulation not that silly aluminum foil bubble wrap stufF with all the false R value claims. Then you will be looking at a REAL winter package..DRV would be a good place to start.

  • Two years ago we looked at a Sanibel and were not impressed at all. The fit and finish were not good and the tires were marginal Chinese tires.

I think you would do better to look at nice used higher end RVs.

  • I'm not familiar with this unit but looking at the online specs it doesn't have very much cargo capacity. For a 42' that only has a little over 2300# is not much and if any options are added to he unit the CCC goes down more.. I have a 32' and it has over 2700#.

If you ever filled your water up that would take away over 500# of your capacity. The holding tanks are big I hope you plan on dumping way before moving it as full at 90 gallon grey tank would add over 700#. Now I know you are not going to travel with full fresh and full grey.
