Did you get the standard def. sat dish? Thats all I see available for Direct Tv, which I subscribe to as well.
Direct tv uses a different dish set up than dish tv so your dish or auto antenna has to be for Direct TV. We used our spare box from home and a carryout dish which was only SD for years until the anolog box failed and direct tv keep insisting I needed a service call before they would send me a new box , they wanted to check the cables and they wanted me to pay for the service call. So I ended my relationship with Direct TV and now if we are anywhere near a city or a good size town you can HD network channels over the air with a antenna which is what we do now. when I had the tripod it could get frustrating setting up , the carry out made it easier but was only SD on the direct tv system.
