  • We're like Y-Guy and passed on it. We're fulltimers and while we do use the back porch some, in cooler weather we prefer the back door closed to keep heat in better. We also prefer being at ground level near a fire when we can have one.
  • It's not going to keep the heat in very well at all, at least not as good as the ramp door will. Back when we had our Raptor I just had the half screen and vinyl door, I could still close the ramp door at night.

About the only time we used our ramp door for hanging out on was the couple times we back up'd to a river, other the that I prefer being around the campfire.
  • We have one... bought it in 2007 and used it for one summer. it was very nice to have but we have not needed it since... and we stay put six months at a time.

The plus side: More shade... less bugs

The minus side: Putting it up and taking it down...rain storm - really pulls at the top of the awning when the rain fills the awning.... can you tilt it? not really without a lot of weight to deal with on that one side...

more minus side: carrying stuff in and out of the MH to the car, dealing with the doors. Bugs on the screens (we solved that by spraying the screens and the bugs would end up on the ground to be swept up. confined area- if people come over there's no room for over flow. You are boxed in.

I think it would be way easier to get a screen tent and set it up, off to the side... next to the door under your awning. That would probably prop up the awning and help the awning not to sag. If you have to roll up the awning due to wind... you can quickly do that.

We are in the NW and there's no bug problems here like other places. With the mosquito virus starting to be a concern you might want to consider putting a screen tent inside the extended screen room... it's a thought.
