If you talking about just a little spillage, like maybe an ounce, I don't worry about it. Just spray the area down with the rinse hose.

What is causing you to not get the hose on correctly?

Generally we clean up the area with a bleach water solution so there is no smell and the bacteria gets neutralized then water the area significantly so it dissipates.

Do this long enough and you'll end up with a cut in your stinky slink or it will pop out of the ground connection or a fitting will fail etc..
