Shake down cruise complete

Just got back home yesterday from our 1st trip. We camped close to home 120 miles at Fort Fisher near Wilmington. We used or tested every system on our new rig, and I am happy to say it went great. All we found was a burned out light bulb.

We did get an unexpected test of the emergency break away brakes. Leaving our site it was a very sharp turn and the lanyard got caught on a bolt on the hitch. When I straightened out I said it felt like a brake locked up when I did a walk around I notice the lanyard had pulled. I plugged it back in and off we went.

We couldn’t be happier the trip went smooth, and we love our new 5th wheel. Our next trip is in July and we are already counting down the days.

I'm glad you had a great first trip. How did you find you truck hauling the trailer?

No problems, it was a short 120 mile each way and flat.
  • Glad everything worked out for you. A little info on breakaway cord. Fastway trailer products
make a coil cord for the breakaway switch. I bought one last year and it is great. Coiled up it
Is about 6 inches long and stays away from anything that might catch it. I love mine
and I never worry about it catching on anything. Happy camping.
  • Thats really good when all you have is a burned out bulb. Hope it remains that way. Have fun.

  • I was stationed at Fort Fisher Air Force Station from 1961 to 1965. The area is beautiful & unique!
